It was an absolute JOY to meet Samaritan Scholars in Honduras last year! I was able to witness, firsthand, the difference a scholarship makes for children in this community near a garbage dump. I knew that the parents and children in this neighborhood rely on the nearby dump for their livelihood, but now that I've visited the dump I will always remember that smell! It's heartbreaking thinking of children getting their toys, clothes, even food from that dump.

I left Honduras wanting to help even more. So while I'm not a runner, I'm participating in the SAMARITAN 5K! The funds I raise will be used for food support for the Samaritan Scholars and their families. With that critical need met, the scholars can focus on their studies and on breaking out of poverty.
